Letter From Our Worship Leader

Brian Rossi.JPGMy name is Brian Rossi and I have the extreme honor and privilege of serving you, along with a small team of leaders and a group of amazing and devoted volunteers, as leader of the Worship Ministry here at Holden Chapel. I have been blessed with an incredible and beautiful wife, Carolyn and a true miracle of a son, Ethan. We as a family are proud to worship with you, our fellow brothers and sisters in Christ.

As a ministry, we strive to be a catalyst used by God and His Spirit, to provide an environment in which you can freely and humbly approach His throne through prayer, scripture, and songs of praise and worship. Each week, the members of the Worship Ministry put their gifts and skills together to work to glorify God. Whether it be planning out a song set, choosing an appropriate scripture verse, creating the slides for the projector, choosing the right background, adjusting volume switches on the sound board, recording a CD, video taping the message, cleaning up cables on the platform or even ministering in song with the Choir, God has blessed us with so many gifted people.

Pondering, in praying about this article, God brought to the forefront of my mind the following verse: “Shout for joy to the LORD, all the earth. Worship the LORD with gladness; come before Him with joyful songs. Know that the LORD is God. It is He who made us, and we are His; we are His people, the sheep of His pasture. Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise; give thanks to Him and praise His name. For the LORD is good and His love endures forever; His faithfulness continues through all generations." ~Psalm 100:1-5.

In this verse we are told to “Shout” for Joy to the Lord! More importantly, we're told to worship Him with gladness! I may be going out on a ledge with this one, but we often seem to have a tendency to allow the circumstances around us to weigh and bog us down. We unintentionally allow the things of this world to consume our minds and our hearts. We often feel as though we don't have the strength to make it through much more. We have good intentions of following God and living daily in His will, but the distractions we are faced with all too often cause us to lose focus. As a result of this, we often find it hard to fulfill the challenge and encouragement of Psalm 100. We often feel like we can't shout for joy. We come before the Lord to worship Him and we just can't seem to do it with true genuine gladness. We feel worn down, beat and discouraged. Ultimately, this results in us feeling defeated.

If you've felt like you're in that place more often than not, be encouraged by verse 3! Know that the Lord is God! It is He who made us and we are His! Knowing this, remembering this and making a true effort to believe it, we will then be able to enter His gates with true thanksgiving and true praise in our hearts! We will be able to give true thanks to Him and lift up His name in praise. He is Good! His love endures forever! His faithfulness continues through ALL generations ... yes, that even means our generation! Praise God? Absolutely!
