Holden Christian Academy is a private Christian school offering Preschool through Grade 8. Founded in 1994, HCA is a ministry of Holden Chapel, and takes place at the chapel during the week. HCA’s office is located on the first floor, just inside of the door that faces the youth center and field.

HCA is governed by a volunteer school committee, and administered by a team of professional educators, led by Principal Susan Hayward. The school employs 25 full- and part-time faculty and staff, and currently serves 114 students.

The students at HCA come from all around our area, including 25 communities ranging from Athol in the North to Auburn in the South, Shrewsbury in the East to New Braintree in the West. Over 30 different churches are represented in the student body; the top three churches in terms of number of enrolled students are Holden Chapel, First Assembly of God (in Worcester), and Liberty Assembly of God (in Shrewsbury).

In 2006, Holden Christian Academy was awarded accreditation by the Association of Christian Schools International, a distinction that only a small percentage of Christian Schools achieve.

Current Happenings

God has truly blessed our ministry this year, and we are excited about both the remaining months of the current 2009-2010 school year, and about the coming 2010-2011 school year!

Preschool – The HCA Preschool is expanding! Families will have the choice of either morning or afternoon sessions for 3-year-olds, and either half- or full-day sessions for 4 year-olds.

New Students!

  • 2010-2011 Enrollment – Throughout the spring HCA is hosting monthly Open Houses for parents to learn more about our school. Space is available in most classes! Help HCA grow by first considering HCA for your own children, and second by spreading the word to your family and friends about our school. Tours are easy to arrange by contacting the school office.
  • Reading Around the World – Throughout the month of February our students have had a number of celebrity readers visit their classrooms and share their love of reading. Readers included local authors, state senators, a former HCA teacher, the Children’s Librarian from the Gale Free Library, and Holden’s Chief of Police. Our students have been challenged to read a minimum of 45 minutes per day throughout the month of February.
  • International Banquet – On the evening of Thursday, April 8 our school is hosting the HCA International Banquet. At this fun event we will celebrate God’s blessing of our school, and raise support for the 2010-2011 Tuition Assistance fund. This banquet is the single largest source of assistance funds for the coming school year, and we hope to see you there!

    Getting Involved

Volunteers are welcome at HCA! We would not be the school we are today without the hard work of many volunteers serving in a wide range of roles.
